The prices increase quite steeply with larger LCD screens but there is a good reason for this that lots of people don't realise, you may think that a 30 inch LCD screen would be twice as big as a 15 inch LCD screen but it actually requires 4 times the screen surface area so that is why the large screens are so much more expensive than the smaller screens.

LCD televisions also come in two screen formats, widescreen and standard. Most small LCD televisions use the standard screen format but the bigger they get the more common widescreen screens become, this is because widescreen screens are much better for viewing films. So if you will be using the LCD television for watching DVD's then widescreen is much better, they do cost a little more but offer a much better viewing experience when watching DVD's.

LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display and is used in lots of other electronics such as computer monitors, hand held games consoles and even basic items such as watches and calculators. An LCD display is a transmissive display which means that a light source behind the LCD screen produces the light and shines it though the LCD, a white diffusion panel is placed behind the LCD screen so that the light is distributed evenly.
