DVD recorders support different types of blank DVD media and there are three main types, these are DVD-R, DVD+R and DVD-RAM. There are also re-writeable blank DVD's that have a 'W' at the end (like DVD-RW) so there are many different types available, you just need to make sure that you buy the correct DVD media for your DVD recorder. There are also DVD recorders that have a hard drive included which means that you can record without the need for blank DVD media, the hard drive also opens up other cool features such as pausing live television.
